Africa World Airlines (AWA), Ghana’s leading domestic carriers has continued to add more features to its hat as the airlines has just been awarded the Best Passenger Experience award.
AWA started operations in 2012 and now operates a fleet of 8 all-jet aircraft across eight destinations throughout Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Cote D’Ivoire. AWA is the only IATA member airline registered in Ghana, and maintains IOSA certification, the global gold standard for aviation safety.
The airline bagged the award at the Aviatour award 2019.
AWA recently emerged the best domestic airline in Ghana for the fourth consecutive time.
The airline was recently inducted into the CIMG Hall of Fame after being chosen as the best carrier in the country and has consistently maintained the position since 2015.
The airline COO, Sean Mendis thanked its loyal customers for continuing to make it the preferred choice in air travel. “Congratulations to our over 500 team members throughout the region, whose efforts to deliver safe and reliable air transport services have been recognised yet again,” he said.
MoU with South African Airways
In 2019, AWA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with South African Airways to jointly pursue opportunities in West Africa, including a system wide codeshare agreement and other commercial partnerships.
Interairline Partnership with Emirates
The airline also announced an interline partnership with Emirates to provide domestic and regional feed to their flights at Kotoka International Airport in Accra. “The agreement between Emirates and Africa World Airlines underpins our commitment to provide greater connectivity across West Africa. This partnership will allow us to further extend West Africa via the selected domestic and regional routes of Africa World Airlines,” said Orhan Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Africa.
In November 2018, Africa World Airlines received the iGhana award for “Showcasing Ghana Across West Africa” at the 2018 GEM awards.
Africa World Airlines was recognised as “Best Airline in West Africa” for 2019 by the Balafon Travel Awards being held during the Accra Weizo 2019 travel conference and exhibition.
