The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority recently launched a brand new promotional video titled ‘Mauritius Unwavering’ in order to showcase the natural bounties and breathtaking landscapes of Mauritius. The campaign comes in light of the COVID-19 pandemic when travellers across the world are confined inside their homes to maintain safety and curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
The campaign emphasizes that irrespective of the difficulties, the cycle of life never stops and certain things often comes to an end for some other things to blossom and thrive. Arvind Bundhun, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority mentioned in a statement that authorities are planning to accentuate the visibility of the place to provide a sense of inspiration and to remind consumers that Mauritius continues to be a dream holiday destination.
The promotional video campaign showcases the spirit of healing across the country. The video gives out the message the sounds of nature is taking over the world and urging humans to take a deep breath in a time when human activity is on a standstill. It conveys that the current situation has prompted humans to open their eyes and witness the colours of nature that is helping to sharpen and heighten human senses.
The country has also been praised for its efficient response to the pandemic and the measures that were implemented quickly and decisively to control the spread of the virus. On 22 January, the Government of Mauritius started screening passengers on arrival at its airport, introducing body temperature measurements and separation of at-risk passengers a week later. It also set up a fast-track system for suspected cases to minimize contact with other passengers and staff, all before the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared a global health emergency.
The Prime Minister of Mauritius has been addressing the nation regularly, while key stakeholders, including ministers and high officials from the ministries of health, commerce and the police, held daily press conferences to provide the public with the latest COVID-19 statistics as well as keep them informed on the measures being taken.
Due to its rapid response and significant efforts to protect both its citizens and visitors, Mauritius is therefore well placed to lead the recovery effort among its Indian Ocean competitors.
The MTPA is, therefore, working hard with its private sector and stakeholder partners to prepare for the return of visitors to the destination once travel restrictions are lifted. Until then, those wishing to experience Mauritius can do so virtually by watching the tourism board’s #MauritiusUnwavering video to get inspiration for their next trip.
The video campaign showcases the natural beauty and diversity of the destination. It also aims to assure that the country will be ready to welcome visitors back once conditions get better and tourism makes a return. The tourism board is already working with its private sector and stakeholder partners to prepare for the return of visitors to the destination once travel restrictions are lifted. The country has been constantly praised for response to the pandemic and its efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
