Organised by Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, preparations for the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel Expo are in the final stages as the Local Organising Committee (LOC) works overtime to ensure the expo showcases the best of what Zimbabwe has to offer in terms of tourism and recreation.
Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in southern Africa known for its dramatic landscape and diverse wildlife. It is famous for its Zambezi River which falls 108 metres into the narrow Batoka Gorge at the Victoria Falls – a spectacle that tourists from all across the world come to witness.
In recent years, Chinese tourists have played an important role in the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry. And now, Zimbabwe is seeking to attract tourists from the Middle East region to further expand its inbound tourism base. Zimbabwe Tourism Authority participated at the Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai recently in a bid to attract more tourists from the Middle East markets.
World Tourism Expo: Showcasing Zimbabwe
The World Tourism Expo is an annual Tourism Trade Fair organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority that will run from 12th to the 14th of September 2019 at the ZITF Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo, also known as the ‘City of the Kings’.
“We are looking forward to receiving tourists from the broader continent of Africa and beyond,”,” says Butholezwe Nyathi, member of Local Organising Committee in Bulawayo. “By showcasing the best of Zimbabwe to the world, we aim to highlight our country on the international tourism map as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world,” he said.
To date Sanganai / Hlanganani has over 250 registered local and international exhibitors with more expected to come onboard before the deadline for registration ends.
“We are hoping to attract more tourists from the Middle East markets in the coming years,” said Godfrey Koti, Head of Corporate Affairs at Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. “By showcasing Zimbabwe’s tourist attractions amongst tourists in the Middle East we are trying to tap into new and growing markets in the Middle East through various promotional activities and events,” he said while talking to Holiday Guide magazine on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai recently.
More than 20 countries have confirmed their participation at the World Travel Expo – these include India, China, Italy, Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique – to name a few. The World Travel Expo organised by Zimbabwe Tourism Authority has been gaining prominence and popularity all across the world and is registered under the United Nations World Tourism Organisation calendar.
